Palo Santo (Bursera Graveolens) is a sacred fragrance tree native to South America that means "Holy Wood". This sacred wood has been used as incense for ceremonial and medicinal purposes. When burning it will bring you a sense of peace and cleansing with its intoxicating scent. The uplifting aromatic smoke removes negative energy and disinfects the air. It is used to cleanse, facilitate prayers, encourage healing, and bestow blessings and honor. Use it to bless your home, yourself, an object or person, office space, and to cleanse your crystals. Also beneficial as a preparation to help raise your vibration and add peace and clarity to your meditation space. Palo Santo has a soft, woody sweet, citrus aroma with underlying notes of frankincense, myrrh and copal resin. Great to burn outdoors to keep mosquitoes and other flying insects away.
Ethics & Sustainability: There has been a lot of confusion about the endangerment of Palo Santo and I would love to share it with you. There are actually two South American trees called Palo Santo, they are two totally different species that grow in different parts of Ecuador and Peru. One of these species, a mahogany-like tree known as Bulnesia Sarmientoi, is threatened with over-exploitation. The one I sell is Bursera Graveolens. The Palo Santo products I sell come directly from Peru where I have established a personal relationship with an ethical, multi-generational family farm preserve that works directly with the Ministry of Agriculture of Peru and is active and committed to the protection and reforestation of these sacred trees. Palo Santo is ethically and sustainably wild harvested, no trees are cut down, it is illegal to do so, only naturally fallen trees and branches that lie dead for 4-10 years are gathered before they are harvested. It is not until the tree dies naturally that it starts to develop its medicinal oils.
Please use caution and safe burning practices. Burn in a fireproof container and in a well-ventilated area. Do not leave burning incense unattended. Keep out of reach from children, pets & flammable material. Always be mindful of fire safety, especially indoors and in dry climates. Do not ingest.
